The clause, read where it opened
Australia is named on three of the four lists we could read
Four of the ten operators here gave a readable answer on the restricted-territories clause. Three of the four name Australia: Cloudbet, whose captured list holds two countries in total, Shuffle.com with 15 and Wild.io with 45. The other six clauses have not been read, and that is a statement about this research rather than about those operators.

What the clause is, and what it is not
A restricted-territories clause is a contractual condition. It states the places from which the operator will not accept a customer, and it sits in the terms a player accepts at sign-up. It is written by the operator, changed by the operator, and enforced by the operator. The regulator's side of the question, what the ACMA can and cannot do, is set out in the explainer on the ACMA.
It is not a statement of Australian law and it does not follow Australian law. The Interactive Gambling Act 2001 is addressed to the people supplying the service, and an operator can name Australia in its own clause for commercial reasons that have nothing to do with the Act — the split is set out on the legal status page. Two operators can face identical legal exposure and write opposite clauses.
What the clause decides is whether the contract is sound. If it names your country and you hold an account anyway, the operator has a written reason to close it, and every other protection on this page runs through a contract the operator can say was void from the start.
The three lists that name Australia
Cloudbet carries the shortest restricted list we have read anywhere: clause 7.1.3, as captured, names Australia and Belgium and nothing else. Australia is the first name on it. The capture may not have reached the end of the clause, so treat two as a floor rather than a total — but the first entry is not in doubt, and a list that opens with Australia in second position among nothing is about as pointed as this column gets. How many operators name Australia at all, and how long each list runs, is counted for crypto casinos in Australia and their country lists.
Shuffle.com names 15 territories, Australia among them, alongside the Cayman Islands, Curaçao, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States, plus a set of sanctioned jurisdictions. Its clause then closes with an open end — any other location from which use of the services is not permitted — which is a category the operator fills in later.
Wild.io names 45, again including Australia, with the United States and its territories, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Israel and France at the head of it. France is listed together with its overseas territories, which is how a list of that length accumulates.
Three operators, three list lengths that differ by a factor of twenty, and the same country on all three.
The fourth reading, and the six blanks
The fourth operator whose documents produced an answer is BC.Game, and the answer is that no restricted-territories clause was found in the pages that could be read at all. That is not an empty list and it should not be read as one. It records that the clause was not located, in a set of terms pages that returned little else either.
The remaining six — Vave, Jackbit, TrustDice, Mega Dice, Betpanda.io and BetFury — have not been read on this point. Six of ten is the majority of the table, and saying so is the whole difference between this page and a page that prints a green tick in every cell it did not check. A blank here is a hole in the research. It is never evidence that an operator has no list.
How this sits against the wider set
Across the 100 brands in our fact library, 38 publish a restricted-territories list that could be counted. Thirteen of those 38 name Australia — roughly a third of every published list read.
The lengths are wildly uneven. The longest run past 200 territories, which is most of the world named individually; the shortest hold a single entry. Cloudbet's two is the shortest list that names more than one country. There is no relationship between the length of a list and how strictly it is applied, because the list is a drafting decision and the application is a risk decision made later.
That spread is the reason a comparison cell headed accepts Australians is close to worthless. It compresses four states — named, not named, clause unread, and no clause found — into a yes or a no, and three of those four are not a yes.
What to do with it before depositing
Open the terms and search them for the country name and for the word restricted. The clause is usually early, in the section on eligibility or on who may open an account, and it takes a minute to find. Read it as it stands on the day you look, because a clause can be rewritten between a reading and a visit and this site's readings are dated for that reason.
If your country is named, the account is on unsound footing from the start, whatever the sign-up form allowed. The point at which that usually surfaces is the withdrawal, because that is when the operator's risk desk looks at an account closely for the first time — the same moment the identity documents are requested, which is covered on the no-KYC page, and the same moment a ceiling starts to matter, which is on what the ceiling is worth in AU$.
If the clause cannot be found, treat that as unknown rather than as clear. And whatever the clause says, it is worth checking the licence entry in the same sitting, because a permission that has been withdrawn changes what a complaint about a closed account is worth — the procedure is on check a licence number.
Why this page carries no advice about getting around it
Nothing here explains how to hold an account at an operator whose terms name your country, and that is deliberate rather than squeamish. Any such method breaches the same clause the page is about, and a breached clause is the operator's strongest ground for keeping a balance. A reader who wants the money to arrive is better served by an operator whose terms do not name Australia in the first place, which on this table means the six where nobody has yet looked and the one where no clause was found.
The method page sets out how these readings were done and where they stopped. Gambling Help Online is the support service named on this site, and it is free and confidential.
